The River Bend Golf Course opened for play in 2006. The course was designed by Larry Hawkins.
The River Bend Golf Course is a links-style layout on the front nine and a more undulating design on the back. The course combines some of the most unique play in the area with a course designed to provide an exciting golfing experience for players of all levels. Beautiful oak trees and meandering streams give the golf course its character, with elevation changes, multi-tiered greens and challenging areas of forced carry-including water features-and areas of forced lay-up in a links-style course, especially on the front 9. The back 9 is a more traditional golf course. All of this combined with the Texas wind makes River Bend a formidable challenge for even scratch golfers. It's one of the only only true links courses in south Texas.
River Bend Golf Club is a 7,030 yard layout (from the tips) with a slope rating of 72.8. They have 5 sets of tees to challenge varying skill levels. The course has some elevation changes, so it is not just a flat pasture with grass on it. The fairways are generous, but if you get off them, you could be up to your waist in native grasses / trees. The rough, what rough there is, is not penal at all and should not pose a problem. The greens are somewhat large and typically have some slope to them. The green speeds typically sit somewhere between 7-9 on the Stimp.
